At the opening ceremony of the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games, a stunning performance amazed the audience. 25 high-performance humanoid Bots formed a 5×5 square formation and completed a marching performance autonomously, marking the world's first achievement of AI humanoid Bots being unmanned controlled and autonomously forming a team.
These Bots helped the Chinese team win the championship at the 2025 RoboCup World Cup in Brazil, and now they are once again showcasing their outstanding technical capabilities. Unlike traditional remote control or manual protection, this performance was entirely completed autonomously by the AI system, involving cutting-edge technologies such as positioning synchronization, real-time communication, and formation control, particularly in terms of error control and latency compensation, which is far more challenging than single Bot operations.
This sports event is the world's first comprehensive sports gala featuring humanoid Bots as the main characters, attracting 280 teams from 16 countries across five continents. A total of over 500 humanoid Bots will compete in 26 major events and 538 minor events. It is worth mentioning that all participating teams in the football competition used the same high-performance robot platform.
The event organizers not only provided hardware support but also committed to creating an open developer ecosystem. They open-sourced the 3v3 competitive decision-making algorithm, offered comprehensive development tools and training courses, and even helped inexperienced high school teams complete the development of competition programs in just two weeks.
This grand event not only showcased the latest advancements in humanoid robot technology but also painted a promising blueprint for the widespread application of AI and robots in fields such as sports and education. With the continuous progress of technology, we can look forward to seeing more amazing robot performances and competitions, driving the role of artificial intelligence and robot technology in broader areas.
